The Minnesota Vikings have a long history of losing the games that they should win and winning the games they are expected to lose, so there's that. Before you send me some hate mail, hear me out.

I am a firm believer that when stats are shown on TV or on the internet, it is tempting fate to go wrong. I read a few stats on the Minnesota Vikings Website, and I have a few of my own. So here is why they will lose:

Detroit Hasn't Won A Single Game This Season

I don't have a stat to back this up, just recent memory. It always seems like the Vikings lose to a team like Detroit. This game especially they would like to have. It's in the division, against a good defense, and would give the Vikings a big mountain to climb in order to get into the playoffs. The Vikings are a game out of the playoffs, they have the same record as last year at this time. Jared Goff almost had the Lions winning against the Bears, they want it bad.

The Vikings Don't Win When They Don't Cover The Spread

The Vikings are favored by 6.5 points. When they are favored by this many points this season they can't cover the spread and lose. Anything over 6 they have lost each game. Though they haven't been favored that many times by that many points. SI says this season they are 6-5 against the spread.

Minnesota Is Without Dalvin Cook

The Vikings rely a lot on the man to get defenses to bite for a run and then Minnesota passes. Detroit might hang a few in the box and take it up the middle at Cousins and create some pressure. Can Mattison become a Cook clone? He is going to have to. Detroit does have a good-looking defense, so they could put together some good blitzes like Zimmer likes to do and give him a taste of his own medicine.

Minnesota's Play Calling Is Terrible

Most of the time Minnesota comes out like gangbusters in the first half and just can't put the sword in and make the kill. A lot of it has to do with aggressive play calling for the offense in the first half, then it sits back and plays defense to protect it. Finish them Vikings and walk away with the win

Vikings Road Record Is Bad

According to their record this year they are 2-4 with a win in Carolina and Los Angeles (Chargers). Detroit plays better at home, but their record doesn't show it. Detroit is coming off a big game against Chicago at home, they have the momentum. Minnesota a loss on the road vs the 49ers.

Detroit's Defense Is Getting Better

The Toronto Star also reports that the Defense for Detroit has allowed fewer points in each of their last four games. Is this the game they play shut down with Minnesota?

I would love to be proved wrong, but the Minnesota Vikings has a great record at breaking your heart in games that they should win easily.

My prediction? Detroit 19-17
