New $1 Million Winning Powerball Ticket Was Purchased In Minnesota
Since Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico, it's always great to see someone nearby win big, and that's what happened this week in Minnesota.
On Wednesday, April 16, the Powerball jackpot had reached an estimated $113 million. The winning numbers drawn on Wednesday were 20, 24, 42, 43, and 49, and the Powerball number was 19.
To win $1 million, you'd need to match 5 of the 5 numbers, but not the Powerball number, meaning you're just one number away from scoring $113 million, and a ticket purchased in a western suburb of the Twin Cities did just that.
Where Was The $1 Million Winning Ticket Purchased?
According to the Minnesota Lottery, the $1 million winning ticket was purchased in Minnetonka, a city of just under 58,000 people as of the 2020 census.

The lucky Powerball ticket was purchased at a Holiday StationStores located at 2801 Hopkins Crossroad.
As of now, that massive $1 million prize is unclaimed. Hopefully, whoever purchased the winning ticket realizes it and claims their big payday soon. However, unless the winner decides to come forward publicly, we may never know who they are.
There are regulations to protect lottery winners who win over $10,000 because big-money winners can become targets for scammers and fraud, so the Minnesota Lottery will not divulge their name unless they first agree to it.
