Target Gearing Up For Major Change At Minnesota + Wisconsin Stores
It's hard to keep up with all the changes major businesses are making as of late and now Target is eying a pretty big one.
The superstore has made quite a few changes over the past few years. For example, late last year, they changed the way that customers can pick up their items curbside.

The change was put in place to help staff working curbside pickup, as customers weren't notifying the store when they were on the way, causing a big backup for workers.
This new change is going to be a lot more noticeable if it does come to fruition - and it will definitely change your shopping experience, for better or for worse.
Target Might Be Axing Self-Checkout At Minnesota + Wisconsin Stores
Target now might be taking a page out of Walmart's book, axing self-checkout at stores all across the country. According to several reports, this has already happened at a few different locations.

Target has not confirmed or denied the reports but it would make sense, as they recently started cracking down big time on self-checkout. Last year, they put a cap on the number of items you can take through the self-checkout lanes, capping it at ten to prevent theft.
Target Taking A Page From Sam's Club By Axing Self-Checkouts?
A new report says that Sam's Club stores nationwide are slowly phasing out self-checkout lanes. Instead, customers will have to use their mobile app to 'scan and go' as they pick items up throughout the store.

The first thing I thought of when I read about the change was those that aren't technologically savvy. Maybe someone doesn't have a smart phone to download the app or struggle with using a smart phone! It's definitely an interesting change.
I understand that self-checkouts can be annoying at times, especially when people bring way too many items through but I would be sad to see them go. I like checking out myself and think that getting rid of this option would create long lines.
We will have to wait and see what happens but I hope that these reports aren't true! They will still have a fan in me either way, though.
UPDATE 5/6: A spokesperson for Target said the following regarding this report, writing "Target is not removing self-checkout. We offer it in the vast majority of our stores and have no plans to change this."
