Park Point in Duluth is a very popular destination for both tourists and locals in the warmer months. Some people, aren't fans.

Park Point can be found on Minnesota Avenue on the other side of the Aerial Lift Bridge.  The beach house and park can be found at the end of Minnesota Avenue. The park includes sand volleyball courts, different pavilions, and even some grills that are available for reservation.

My grandpa built a house on Park Point back in the day and I absolutely loved having the beach as my backyard. I would ride my bike up and down the point and spend my summers at Lafayette for summer camp. You can even find some parts of the old wooden castle from Bayfront Park that is now used in the community garden.

Another thing I miss that no longer exists was the wooden boat at the end of Park Point. It was next to the park that used to be at the end of the point that doesn't exist anymore either. I used to beg my parents to take me to the ship almost every day and I'm so sad that it is gone.

Sorry for the little trip down memory lane, but Park Point is a big part of Duluth. I was curious to see how people reviewed the location on TripAdvisor. There were over 300 reviews and most of them were pretty good, but there was some negative feedback. Heads up, there were a few grammar issues in the reviews. Here are some of the worst reviews I found for the area:

Full of trash

"We went down here for a walk after the Lark '0 The Lake Festival and there was trash all over. If you go plan on keeping your shoes on, we saw a lot of broken glass. I would not recommend this area for anyone with small kids or pets that could get injured."

Not especially scenic

"My wife and I started hiking the mile-long path at the Wisconsin end of Park Point but quickly gave it up. It was hot, windy, and unpleasant, and you can get fine views of the Lake in a thousand other places."

Access to the Lake

"Nice beach, sand, rocks, driftwood. But people do not take out what they bring in (garbage), what a shame on those involved. Wife walked into the water, nice temps but she had to watch where she placed her feet."

You will get lots of sand in your shoes

"we visited on a very windy day after the beach house was closed for the season. Basically need to walk through very unstable sand to get to the beach in the first and luckily found a sidewalk on out walk to the car."

Beautiful beach, unfinished walkway

"We drove out to park point and, while the beach was fine, the boardwalk had a large step to get on from the parking lot, and then it ended at the beach with a 2 foot drop. You could walk on the grass around it, but that was slippery for my mom especially."

Erosion is everywhere

"Wood debris pretty much covers the entire beach. It is littered with trees and roots from erosion, historically high lake levels, and storms in recent years. I was disappointed by the looks of it. I hope it gets some much needed attention soon."

Nice place to walk but pretty far

"It's kind of out of the way and not that different than other beaches around Duluth. There were very few people there, so some people might like that."

Wear shoes in the summer

"I don't want to sound like a wuss, but we went in August and the sand was absolutely scalding hot (black flecks) and the water was freezing cold (50s?). We ended up standing on the foot-wide patch of wet sand. Ha! Wear your shoes.
I've bee to beaches all over the world and never quite experienced this. Otherwise, the sights are beautiful."
