Duluth’s Ursa Minor Brewing Grabs Gold Medal At World Beer Cup Awards
It's no secret Duluth is home to some great beer. That has been reaffirmed with yet another award given to a Duluth area brewery, this time at the World Beer Cup Awards. The event is known as the "Olympics of Beer", highlighting beers from around the world.
Held in Nashville, Tennessee, this year's World Beer Cup Awards saw a few different Minnesota breweries scoring hardware.
These award-winning beers were up against a lot of competition, with over 10,000 beers from over 2,300 breweries around the world represented in the contest. In the end, three Minnesota beers collected medals, with a Duluth beer taking top honors.
The first of the beers to grab a medal was the Minneapolis brewery Bauhaus Brew Labs, which took a bronze medal for their "Deck Jockey" American-style sour ale. They describe the beer as a Passionfruit berry sour ale.
The next beer to collect an award at the World Beer Cup Awards is another Twin Cities brew, Utepils Brewing in Minneapolis. Utepils got a silver medal for their Munich-style lager, "Helles".
And last, but certainly not least, Duluth's Ursa Minor Brewing collected a gold medal for their Irish Red Ale, "Equanimity". This beer features an ABV of 5.3% and IBU of 30.
The same beer recently won first place in the Minnesota Brewer's Cup in the English, Scottish & Irish Ales category. They were one of a number of Duluth area beers that won honors at that statewide competition.
In sharing the news of their new award, Ursa Minor noted you can enjoy some of this gold medal-winning beer at their taproom, as it is still on tap at their location in Duluth's Lincon Park neighborhood. Additionally, Equanimity is also available at select liquor stores in the area, too.
