Grandma's Marathon is approaching fast, with preparations underway to welcome runners from the area and around the world to participate in the weekend's three race events.

With the William A. Irving 5K, Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, and Grandma's Marathon all selling out in record time this year, it's sure to be a fun weekend with lots of activity in the Duluth area.

One of the highlights for participants, spectators, and the general public for Grandma's Marathon weekend every year is, of course, the music! It has become a long-standing tradition to enjoy some Friday night pre-marathon music and party on Saturday after the races conclude.

While music has been a long-running tradition for marathon weekend, the move to Bayfront Festival Park is a newer addition, with the music being moved there a couple of years ago.

The move, inspired by providing additional space during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, ultimately adds a whole new level to the music and party atmosphere. Being one of the premiere outdoor music venues in Duluth, those in attendance can enjoy watching ships sail by and other great Bayfront views during the music.

Like in years past, there will be two nights of music, with an act performing Friday night and several acts taking the stage on Saturday. Here's the full schedule:

Friday, June 16, 2023

  • 5:00 pm: Music opens with a DJ on stage playing tunes before the evening's act
  • 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm: Arch Allies

Saturday, June 17, 2023

Food and beverages will be available on-site during the festivities at Bayfront.

Here's a look back at the sights from the finish line and through downtown Duluth for Grandma's Marathon weekend.
