In a new piece of research out from the website WalletHub, they identified the top 182 cities across the country for getting a new job.

One place in Wisconsin not only scored way better than anywhere else in the Upper Midwest, it also came in as one of the best in the entire country.

WalletHub used a variety of factors within the job markets of cities across the country. Factors they considered included things like monthly average starting salary, unemployment rate, job satisfaction, and job security.

They emphasized some areas more than others, including things like employment growth in the city and the overall volume of job opportunities in the city.

Additional factors that they also considered when scoring cities are things like housing affordability, family friendliness, and transportation/commute factors.

Breaking down the findings, the job market itself in Madison is ranked a little lower, but socio-economic factors like commute & transportation, safety, family & dating friendliness, and housing affordability are among the best in the country (ranked 3rd overall), propelling Madison to its #15 score overall on the list of best places to find a job in the country in 2025.
