When summer hits, Wisconsinites love to get outside and enjoy the warm weather. A growing trend among cities is building community splash pads, providing a fun and refreshing way to cool off.
The planned splash pad will be a place for kids and adults to not only cool off, but enjoy some interactive play with the installed water play equipment.
The City of Superior is making plans to build a splash pad at Wade Bowl Park. The new water play area will be located near the existing figure skating rink, offering a space for both kids and adults to cool off and enjoy interactive water features.

Superior Plans a Splash Pad at Wade Bowl Park
To ensure the splash pad meets the needs of the community, the city has launched a survey to gather residents’ opinions on what they would like to see included in the project.

The survey provides a proposed layout featuring a seating area, sidewalks, and various water elements. Residents are encouraged to share their preferences for amenities such as shade structures, accessibility features, and seating options.

Some of the planned water features include a spray loop, multiple water fountains to run through, a spraying pine tree, and misting stations. The city is also considering age-specific water features to ensure fun for all visitors.
Sustainability and Environmental Impact
The splash pad plan also includes a bioretention area, designed to collect rainwater and excess runoff. This eco-friendly addition will support native plants and wildlife, enhancing the park’s natural environment.
