TSA Cracks Down: Minnesota Flyers Without This Face Delays
If you plan on flying out of any of the nine commercial airports in Minnesota starting today, you may face extra security screening from the TSA if you don’t have this critical item with you.
Flying is stressful enough, so if you’re heading to the airport for a vacation or business trip, be prepared. If you don’t have the proper ID ready when TSA asks, you’ll likely be sent to another line for additional screening.

TSA Adds Extra Screening for Missing ID Requirements
Back in 2005, Congress passed the REAL ID Act, requiring higher security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards. Now, nearly 20 years later, the deadline has finally arrived for anyone who plans to fly or access certain federal buildings.
For those who haven’t taken the steps to get a REAL ID, there is some relief. U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem explained that travelers won’t be denied access to flights but could face enhanced screening procedures.
“If it’s not compliant, they may be diverted to a different line, have an extra step, but people will be allowed to fly,” Noem told a House hearing yesterday.
How to Get a REAL ID in Minnesota
According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, to get a REAL ID, you must provide: One document showing your identity, date of birth, and legal U.S. presence, and two documents proving your Minnesota residence.
