We've all seen the signs, heard the radio ads, or saw on TV that just about everywhere is hiring.  Aside from fast food, a convenience store or gas station, or assisted living facility, there are lots of other opportunities and even some with the Minnesota State Patrol.

While a lot of law enforcement agencies are actively looking for officers, the Minnesota State Patrol is seeking candidates for some non-sworn positions, like Commercial Vehicle Inspectors.

I'll admit to having mixed opinions of the Federal Department of Transportation and some of their regulations in regard to commercial vehicle drivers, but we still need laws and need people to enforce them.  At the end of the day, it's about public safety.

The requirements to be a commercial vehicle inspector for the State of Minnesota aren't too stringent, as they provide a lot of the training.  In that position with the State, you'll start off making a decent wage, and of course have some great benefits to go along with the salary.

Areas of Minnesota they are looking to fill positions in include the East Metro, Worthington, Cloquet, Red River, and Mahnomen according to their Facebook post.  The Minnesota State Patrol is also offering a $5,000 hiring bonus for those who qualify, which isn't a small chunk of change.

If you're looking for a new gig, and haven't considered a commercial vehicle inspector job before, it might be worth looking at.  The State benefits alone make it a pretty good opportunity and I have a few friends who work for them and seem to enjoy it.
