What You Need To Know If You Are Handing Out Candy on Halloween in Minnesota
If you scroll quickly through Facebook, you'll notice that there are a lot of questions being asked about Halloween and trick-or-treating in Minnesota. If you are planning to participate in what many call "beggar's night", here are a few things to know.
What You Need To Know If You Are Planning On Handing Out Tricks or Treats for Halloween in Minnesota
2023 had less trick-or-treaters but I have a feeling, if the weather holds off, this could be a record-breaking year for your house.
I don't know anyone that has ever given out tricks instead of candy, but if you are planning on being one of the homes that is participating in trick-or-treating this year, here is what you need to know:
- LIGHTS ON: When you are ready to have kids come to your door for tricks or treats, turn your front porch light on.
- HOURS FOR TRICK-OR-TREATING: Minnesota doesn't follow the same "rules" as Wisconsin and Iowa where many towns post the time for trick-or-treating. Rule of thumb, as soon as it starts to get dark, that is when trick-or-treating starts. Many homes will turn their lights off around 8:00 pm or 8: 30 pm, which signals that they are done handing out candy for the night.
- TEAL BUCKETS: Allergies are a concern for many families in Minnesota. To help ensure that all kids have candy that they can eat, the teal bucket was introduced. By setting out a teal bucket, you are letting families know that you have non-candy options available this Halloween.
