Crews have worked on it all summer and now the end is in sight; one of the roundabout projects in Duluth is nearing its completion.

Officials with the St. Louis County Public Works Department have announced the opening date for the roundabout that's been installed in the intersection of Glenwood Street and Snively Road. According to the details being shared, the roundabout will be ready for traffic on Saturday, October 15 - no later than 5:00 PM.

The roundabout - and the opening of the intersection - is welcome news for a lot of Duluth drivers.  The intersection of Glenwood Street and Snively Street is a busy and popular route and sees a heavy number of drivers each day.

While the roundabout and the intersection itself are being opened, the St. Louis County Public Works Department urges drivers to remain cautious as they pass through the area.  That's because work will continue on an adjoining road construction project.

That ongoing road construction project is occurring on Woodland Avenue between Arrowhead Road and Snively Road.  Drivers should anticipate lane closures along that stretch.  St. Louis County officials are sharing that they anticipate the road construction work in that area to wrap up for the season by the end of the day on October 22.

As a general safety rule - for this road work or for any project - drivers should slow down and stay alert while driving through a road construction work zone.

Both the roundabout at Glenwood Street and Snively Road and the work along Woodland Avenue have been coordinated jointly between the St. Louis County Public Works Department and the City of Duluth.
