It definitely would not be Halloween with out Boo at The Zoo and the staff and volunteers have worked very hard to put a plan in place that will keep everyone safe and able to have a fun time. So make sure and get your costumes ready for a spooky adventure with all the animals at the zoo.

The event will take place over 3 weekends, the dates are Oct. 10 &11 Oct. 17&18 and Oct. 24&25. This year each day of Boo at The Zoo will have a 2 hour time slot for your family to go through the zoo to see the animals and stop at all the treat stations. The average time to go through is around 1.5 hours. Also, all tickets must be purchased in advance their will be no tickets sold the day of the event! The event time is 10am-4pm each day.

The Zoo is  encouraging everyone to buy your tickets as soon as possible due to the limit of 125 people per time frame – they anticipate they will sell out quickly! You will have a selection of 2-hour time slots for each date. Tickets can be purchased online or over the phone by calling 218-730-4500 ext. 200.

Some of the safety measure in place for the Boo at the Zoo event include:

  • All visitors and vendors will be required to wear masks and face coverings in all indoor buildings (Main building, Primate Conservation Center, and Australia building).
  • When interacting with a vendor, guests will be required to wear masks.
  • one-way path is designated throughout the Zoo. Map coming soon!
  • Hand Sanitizer stations are available throughout the Zoo.
  • Guests of the Zoo are asked to refrain from visiting if they are in a high-risk or vulnerable category for COVID-19, are not feeling well or have a fever.
  • Guests are encouraged to wear face coverings, utilize hand-sanitizing stations, and maintain a six-foot distance from other groups.
  • Zoo staff must wear face coverings and their health will be monitored each day prior to reporting to work.
  • Vendors and treat stations will be limited to twenty per day and will be located six feet off of our pathways, allowing our visitors the opportunity to choose to interact with vendors only if they feel comfortable doing so.
  • Only vendors will hand out candy, there will be no self-serve candy distribution.
  • When interacting with a vendor, guests will be required to wear masks

Thankfully kids will be able to have some sense of normalcy this Halloween and with all the safety measure in place the event should go off with out a hitch. So it's game on to go get that special costume or get that pattern to make one of your own. For more information on thei years Boo at the Zoo event click on the zoo website.
