The CHUM School Backpack Drive has begun and you can help kids in the Northland start the year with the supplies they need to have a successful school year.

According to the School Supply Outreach Program, nearly 2 out of 5 students start the school year without all the supplies on their school list.  This puts so many students at a disadvantage right out of the gate each school year.

Due to the the COVID-19 pandemic, CHUM cannot accept school supply donations in person this year.  However you can go online and help in a big way with with a small donation.

Here is how your money will be utilized:

For your $11.27 donation, students in Kindergarten – 5th grade will receive:

  • 1 16” x 11” x 5” backpack •3 wide-ruled spiral notebooks
  • 3 pocket folders
  • Scissors
  • 6 No. 2 pencils
  • 1 box of 8 markers
  • 1 box of 24 crayons
  • 2 glue sticks

For your $11.74 donation, students in grades 6 – 12 will receive:

  • 1 17” x 12” x 5” backpack •3 college-ruled spiral notebooks
  • 3 pocket folders
  • 1 three-ring binder
  • 1 pack college-ruled loose leaf filler paper
  • 6 No. 2 pencils
  • 3 black stick pens
  • 1 box of 12 colored pencils

The easiest way to help is to make a donation to their Adopt-A-Backpack page set up through GiveMN.com.  They have a goal to raise $10,000 by early August and they are currently just over half way there.
