City Of Duluth Helping To Form Spirit Mountain Task Force

The Spirit Mountain Recreation Area in Duluth has struggled financially and is also in need of repair.  The City Of Duluth is working with Spirit Mountain to form a task force to help.

According to The City, the mission of the task force is:

To draft a set of recommendations intended to help Spirit Mountain Recreation Area achieve financial stability, and a sustainable plan to pay for the repair and replacement of deteriorated infrastructure.

All interested residents are invited to apply to serve on the task force, but special consideration will be paid to applicants who are business experts and to residents who have a strong connection to Spirit Mountain and can "draw upon their experience and expertise and contribute constructively to group decision-making process."

The application process is open now through Wednesday, July 8 at 4:30 p.m.  Duluth Mayor Emily Larson will then appoint nine-to-eleven members from the Duluth community to work in partnership with City staff, Spirit mountain staff, and consultants to draft recommendations for the Mayor, the City Council, and the Spirit Mountain Board of Directors.

Selected Task Force members will be announced in mid-July.

As the City of Duluth struggles through a budget shortfall, there are plenty of people on social media voicing their displeasure with the direction they feel Duluth is going.  This is a great opportunity for those passionate individuals to role up their sleeves and turn their words into action and make a positive difference within the community.
