This is always a sign that summer is over: Gordy's Hi-Hat has announced their closing date for the 2022 season. Sigh.

Gordy's Hi-Hat is such a staple in the Northland that even celebrities know about it - and visit! Over the summer, television star Joel McKinnon Miller made a stop at Gordy's. They were so excited about the celebrity encounter, they shared a photo with the actor on social media!

This might seem random but the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star has ties to Duluth and the Northland. Earlier in the year, a fan of his spotted him roaming around the UMD campus where he went to school back in the day.

This isn't the only celebrity encounter at Gordy's Hi-Hat, either. The famous restaurant has been on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives a handful of times, most recently in a new episode that aired last summer!

All of this is to say that the spot is beloved in the Northland and beyond and sadly, will be closing for the season soon. They shared news of their closing date on social media over the weekend, writing that they will be closing up shop on Sunday, September 18th.

This is sad news but we always know it is coming, especially by this point of the summer! Gordy's Hi-Hat usually closes as we transition into the new season and it looks like this year will be no different.

The good news is, they usually reopen for the season sometime in March or April. Usually, there is still snow on the ground so we have something to look forward to when we are at the tail end of winter!

Gordy's Hi-Hat is located just a short drive from Duluth, at 415 Sunnyside Drive in Cloquet. They have all the classics you love like burgers, fish sandwiches, salads, fries, onion rings and milkshakes. Until they close up shop next month, they are open seven days a week. Make sure you stop by before then or you will have to wait a long time to be able to feast there again!

At the time of writing, none of the Northland's other seasonal businesses have officially announced a closing date. However, the seasonal businesses always close up sometime in the fall so we know it isn't too far off!
