The holidays bring out the best in people and our communities. While there are obvious signs of people helping out, such as volunteers ringing bells for the Salvation Army, many other things could likely go unnoticed.

Whether recognized or not, it's a good sign that so many good deeds are being done for the holidays, so I always like to spotlight cool things I know are happening in our community.

Once such thing is happening soon involving the Duluth Police Department.

The Blue Santa Shop With A Cop Event Is Coming Soon

According to its Facebook post this week, the Duluth Police Department will once again be spreading holiday cheer with its annual Blue Santa Shop with a Cop Event.

This is when the Duluth Police Department partners with multiple community outreach groups to help those in our community buy holiday gifts, which is a great gesture that also 'hopefully takes the stress of the holiday season off families so they can just focus on enjoying the time with their loved ones.

The Duluth Police Department will have its Blue Santa Shop with a Cop event on Tuesday, December 17 at 4 p.m. at Target on Miller Trunk Highway in Duluth.

This year, 30 families and children in our community will be shopping with members of the Duluth Police Department.

A tremendous amount of gratitude should be extended to the Irving Community Club, who graciously donated $10,000 towards this event.

A portion of the Irving Community Club’s donation will also go toward 20 families to receive a $200 gift card to Super One to help purchase food over the holiday.
