The Sawyer County Sheriff's Office posted photos of an empty canoe on their Facebook page on Wisconsin Fishing Opening Weekend. They are trying to locate the owner of the canoe and make sure they are safe.

The canoe was found on Grindstone Lake, which is located just south of Hayward, Wisconsin.

The green canoe was tied up to a dock, and inside, you can see clothing, a fishing net, and other objects. The net, of course, spurred some online comments about netting fish, but that's besides the point. Netting is only permitted for Tribal members, bait dealers, and some commercial fishermen.

The post was shared on Saturday, May 2nd, which is the opening day of fishing in Wisconsin. The post doesn't say if they found the canoe tied up to the dock, or if it was floating abandoned in the lake. If you look closely, you can see the one end of the canoe tied to the dock post.
