Is it just me or are Wisconsin and Minnesota really having a moment to shine in show business lately? It seems like both states are getting some major love on the silver screen.

That's Show Business!

Every type of show, from reality television to long running dramas, have seemingly made a nod to our neck of the woods. Sometimes, this includes stereotypes, like Wisconsin loving cheese and what not.

Even then, it's fun to get to be a little part of Hollywood magic. We are a long way from California but it's nice to know we still get a little mention now and then!

Another example of this is an oldie but a goodie. I have written a lot about random shoutouts to the midwest as I trek through all 25 seasons of Law & Order: SVU. Strangely enough, there are a lot.

Dun Dun!

Another shoutout was given in a recent episode I watched, this time to Wisconsin. The episode in question is from season six, episode sixteen.

The episode is titled Ghost, probably because a cast member everyone thought was dead shows up after spending time in witness protection. So where does Wisconsin come in here? Well, she has a new life with a new name - in Wisconsin!

In fact, the character says she has a new identity and job, along with a much more low-key lifestyle than she ever had in New York City. She even goes as far as to comment on how quiet it is at night there, especially compared to the big city she once called home.

This isn't much of a spoiler, since the show has been on for decades now but it is still fun to see Wisconsin have a little connection to a big hit show like this. At the end of the episode, the former ADA has to get a new identity and say goodbye to Wisconsin. Sad.

I think one of the former writers of the show had a connection to the midwest, because both states have been part of the plot quite a bit throughout the first few seasons of the show. There will probably be more instances too, as I have about fifteen more seasons to go!
