The free Duluth Independence Day tradition continues!

The DECC just announced this year's Fourth Fest lineup, including four different acts that will perform at Bayfront Festival Park on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, ahead of the night's finale fireworks show - the largest fireworks display in the Upper Midwest!

The gates will open for Fourth Fest at 4:00 pm on July 4, with music set to get underway at 5:00 pm.

Acts that will perform for the free night of music to celebrate America's birthday will include:

Derek Jones & The 50 South

Jones returns to Duluth about a year after appearing as a supporting act for Travis Tritt for at Amsoil Arena for a show in July of 2022. Jones is a Navy veteran-turned-country singer from Indiana that was a crowd-pleaser with his no-nonsense variety of country music during his appearance in the Twin Ports last summer.

Wild Horses

Northern Minnesota's own Wild Horses, a roots folk-rock/Americana act based in Grand Rapids, will grace the stage with their blend of music with roots in folk, western, rock, and bluegrass.

Erik Koskinen

Minnesotan Erik Koskinen will bring his unique blend of bluesy American folk, rock-n-roll, and country to Bayfront. Koskinen was labeled "the best country songwriter in Minnesota" by the Star Tribune and touts some big-name connections including working with a producer that worked with Melissa Ethridge and Jackson Browne and recording with an audio engineer that also worked on music from Mumford & Sons and Kenny Loggins.

Black River Revue

Twin Ports-based Black River Revue will be part of the Fourth Fest festivities, playing their style of "Freshwater Bluegrass" and Americana on stage at Bayfront.

Fireworks!

Music will wrap up by 10:00 pm, which is when the biggest fireworks display in the Upper Midwest gets underway.

While the music event and subsequent fireworks are free to attend at Bayfront, normal concert/event rules are in place. No outside food or beverages will be allowed, though concessions will be available on-site. Bags and purses will be subject to a bag check. You can see all of the notes from the DECC for attendees here.

But wait, there's more!

This will actually be the second-straight night of live music at Bayfront. On Monday, July 3, Hairball will headline a show that will also feature the Fabulous Armadillos. Unlike Fourth Fest, this is a ticketed event, with tickets on sale now through the DECC website.

Both of these acts are a lot of fun, making for an exciting kickoff to a couple of nights of live music at Bayfront to kick off July.
