Can The 2025-2026 MNDOT Name A Snowplow Contest Top Last Year’s?
In my humble opinion, last year's MNDOT Name A Snowplow contest was pretty incredible. Can this year's contest top it?
The 2024-2025 contest saw one of the best fields of finalists I can remember, including very Minnesota-themed names like "Lady Slippery" and "Plowin’ In The Wind" and downright clever names like "Oh Snow You Didn’t!" and "Accumulus Removeus".
Can you beat those gems? If you think so, now is the time!
The 2025-2026 MNDOT Name A Snowplow contest just kicked off, with name submissions being accepted now through noon on Friday, December 19.

As always, MNDOT encourages Minnesotans to be witty and unique in coming up with names for MNDOT plow trucks that will tackle snow and ice on Minnesota's roads.
As you might remember from years past, the pool of name suggestions gets narrowed down to a group of finalists, and then the public gets to vote for their favorites. This time around, voting will happen in January, following the submission period wrapping up in December.
MNDOT does have a few rules to be aware of for this contest. First and foremost, you can only submit one name. That said, put some thought into it! Make it awesome!
You have to keep name submissions under a total of 30 characters long, which includes spaces and letters combined.
Remember, this is Minnesota. So keep it Minnesota nice. MNDOT says they won't accept any name suggestions with vulgarities or inappropriate language. They also want to keep things fun, so no politically-inspired names. This includes plays on politician names, slogans, etc.

Finally, past winners will not be considered. I mean, they already won, right?
You can submit your ideas through the MNDOT contest page before noon on December 19, then get ready to vote in January! While we wait for this year's contest vote, here are the results of last year's contest.
