In the wake of the officer-involved shooting incident in Normanna Township in Northern Minnesota on July 15, the St. Louis County Sheriff has released an update and the body cam footage from officers on the scene.

The release from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office includes a preliminary report from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which explains how the scary situation developed.

The report explains that county deputies were dispatched around 9:30 am on July 15 to respond to an arson incident on Heritage Road in Normanna Township. A male who was later identified as the individual who was eventually killed by officers, was reported to have started fires at not only his own home, but at two neighbors' homes.

The individual, later identified as 57-year-old Adam Wolf, was reportedly traveling on a riding lawn mower while armed with what they called a "rifle-style weapon".

As firefighters responded to the scene to put out the fires, they reported hearing gunshots, with one firefighter believing they were being shot at. A responding Duluth Township officer also reports being fired upon when arriving. Thankfully, nobody was hit in these cases.

Deputies responded to this report, searching for the suspect. When they located him, he began shooting at the deputies. The video released by the sheriff's office shows the exchange of gunfire between Wolf and law enforcement.

In the exchange, Wolf was shot. Medical aid was administered to him, but he was pronounced deceased.

Personnel with the BCA recovered "a firearm similar to a shotgun", spent cartridge casings, and several "improvised shotgun-type devices" along the roadway that were reportedly intended to shoot at first responders.

The nearly 20-minute video (seen below) released today by the St. Louis County Sheriff includes excerpts of body cam footage from 5 responding deputies and a squad vehicle.

A warning - This video contains some graphic images and audio during the exchange of gunfire and might be distrubing to some.

The BCA's latest report on the incident identifies the 5 deputies involved as well as details the above information. The BCA says this investigation is ongoing, and they are using the body cam footage as part of their investigation.
