
When Are The Northland’s Golf Course Opening For The 2026 Season?
The phrase "early-season golf" in Northern Minnesota or Northern Wisconsin is generally not particularly "early". This spring, that rings true once again.
While central and southern parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota have seen the occasional summerlike temperatures already, the northern reaches haven't gotten quite that warm yet. Add in the early-April snow we got that is still on the ground in places across the region, and mid-April golf in the Northland is sparse.
The good news is that we've been seeing more consistent warmer weather since I originally published this article, and there have been a lot of updates to this list in the last week.
While some of the courses north of Duluth have yet to lock in on opening dates, places like Enger and Grand View in Duluth have joined the growing list of courses with opening dates on the calendar as snow melts and courses continue to dry out for the 2026 season,.

Early on, areas away from Lake Superior, south a bit into Wisconsin, were able to open first. Courses like Black Bear Golf Course in Minong have been open for a week, with other courses opening or sharing dates for when they plan to open in the days since.
Here's a look at some of the most notable public courses around the Northland and information about when they plan to open in 2026. For courses that have yet to provide any opening information, we'll be updating this post as more information is made available as we see conditions across the region become more "golf-friendly".
