Brand New Minnesota Restaurant, Matriarch, Has Officially Closed
Back in June, we heard the exciting news that Matriarch was getting ready to open its doors to guests! This new restaurant was going in the spot that previously was home to Pinoli, an adorable Italian restaurant in Uptown.
While the restaurant name, Matriarch, may seem new, the owners of this plant-based restaurant weren't new to the industry. The owners and the team that brought this idea to 1601 W. Lake Street in Minneapolis were well-known thanks to Fig + Farro and Book of Jane.
If you check out the Google reviews for the few months Matriarch was open, you'll see that this spot was a fan favorite already!

Unfortunately, the reviews that have been left are the only ones that this restaurant will see.
A few days ago, the owners of Matriarch shared a video on Facebook stating that they are officially closed. The reason for the closure was due to a landlord issue, which included a leaky roof. Below is part of their statement that they shared:
It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Matriarch restaurant, which will no longer be a part of the uptown community.
We deeply appreciate all the support we've received throughout this journey. While Matriarch may be closing, @ourbookofjane will continue to thrive. We'll still be here fostering community and promoting healing through plants, and we would love your continued support as we embark on this next chapter.
As the owners stated in the video, there will be a new chapter.
