Have you heard about this yet? Dakota County, MN is going to be hosting a massive world fair in 2031 and it sounds SO COOL. It's being called Expo 2031 and it's all about humans and nature working together.

There will be 80 countries participating, it will be six months long, and it will feature five living landscape biodome experiences to simulate what it's like in different climates. That's crazy, I'm absolutely nerding out over here.

What is Expo 2031?

Expo 2031 is an A1 International Horticulture Expo. They describe it best on their website what it's all about:

America’s first A1 International Horticultural Exposition ... will welcome the world to Minnesota for six months of horticulture, innovation, culture, health & wellbeing, and future living.

Their slogan is 'Where Humanity and Horticulture Meet'.

Expo 2031 is building the platform where plants, people, nations, companies, and communities shape what comes next.

Yes, this is the first time that this expo will be hosted in the US. Also, yes, these A1 International Horticulture Expos have been hosted elsewhere in the world, including the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Turkey, Japan, China and Thailand, according to Grower Talks.

Five Living Biodome Experiences at Expo 2031

The craziest part to me are the five living landscape biodome experiences. They'll build these areas in Dakota County where you'll be able to go in and fully experience what it's like in places like a desert and northern woods. How incredible is that?

The CEO of Expo 2031, Wendy Meadley, spoke with CBS News about it and said,

"You're going to go in and you're going to feel it, smell it and see it. You're actually going to be transported into the desert, or into the tropics"

What's Going to Happen to Everything After Expo 2031?

You probably noticed the picture I've featured in this article. That's what they're envisioning building-wise for Expo 2031. Yeah, that's what they plan to build in Minnesota!

Ok, that's cool and all, but what happens with all of that when the six months of Expo 2031 are over? CBS News had the same question and the Expo 2031 CEO said, "'Ours becomes actually a mini city in and of itself, with all the amenities people would want to come and go in their daily life'".

So they'll transform it into places people can live?! That's amazing.

Since we still have 5 years there's a lot to still be worked out, but I'm unreasonably excited to see more developments of this and hopefully be able to go.
