Popular MN Pizza Restaurant Now Opening New Location
Minnesota pizza fans, get ready to grab another slice of the good stuff! One of the state’s most popular pizza joints is expanding again—and you might be surprised where the next hot, cheesy destination is popping up.
Minnesota is, of course, the Land of 10,000 Lakes. But we're also the home of 11,000 restaurants. At least, that's the estimate by Foodylytics, anyway. Their data says there are currently 11,133 total restaurants across the North Star State, with 1,425 of them in Minneapolis, 690 in St. Paul, and 358 of them located in Rochester.
So how many of those are pizza places? There's no exact figure, but this Reddit thread took a look at Minnesota's restaurant density and came up with the figure of around 1,500 restaurants that serve pizza right now in Minnesota.

Well, we'd better make that 1,501, because one of the Bold North's most popular pizza restaurants just announced that it was adding yet *another* new location. That's the word from OG Zaza, the popular pizza restaurant owned and operated by Chef Joshua Hedquist. According to their website, here's what their restaurant is all about:
We make personal size New Haven-style pizzas that are charred, crispy, and chewy. They’re cooked in 5 minutes and everything is made from scratch with ingredients you can pronounce.
OG Zaza already operates four different locations in the Twin Cities metro:
- Roseville
- Shakopee
- Minneapolis (The OG Zaza Pizza Trailer)
- St. Paul

And we'll soon be able to add Bloomington to that list of locations, because OG Zaza will be opening a fifth location in the Mall of America (MOA). A post on the MOA Facebook page said the new OG Zaza restaurant will be located in Culinary on North, Level 3.
If OG Zaza and Chef Hedquist's name rings a bell, it's because you might have seen him on TV. He's made appearances on various Food Network shows, including:
- Guy's Grocery Games
- Ultimate Thanksgiving Challenge
- Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives
- Chopped
The post didn't specifically say when the new location will make its debut, but BringMeTheNews reports that it will open sometime this fall. I've been to their location in St. Paul and, yeah, the pizza is ah-maze-zing! So if you're heading to MOA to do some holiday shopping later this fall, make sure to stop by!
