Duluth Minnesota isn't known for being incredibly dirty as far as trash on the streets is concerned.  I've been to plenty of worse cities and states that clearly have a big problem.  Still, it seems like since the pandemic started, I've noticed more trash laying around city streets than usual for our area.

A Twin Ports area nonprofit organization called Garbage Kingdom, has stepped up to help keep our city streets a little cleaner.  The nonprofit was founded on four ideas: Trash collecting, outreach for people experiencing homelessness, mentoring of young men caught in the cycle of violence, and art as therapy.  The trash collecting part of their mission has been happening every couple of weeks in the area and it's helped to make a difference.  They could use your help though.

The next socially distant trash collecting event is on Tuesday, September 1st, starting at 6:00PM.  All you have to do is show up with work gloves and the desire to help them clean up trash on the city streets to make our community a better place.  They will provide the trash bags, and make sure that everyone is keeping properly distanced.  The location for this week will be at the Damiano Center, located at 206 West 4th Street.  If you can make it, there is no need to RSVP.  Make sure you layer your clothes appropriately as is't getting cooler in the evenings in the area now.
