The Minnesota State High School League has come up with tentative plans for 2021 Winter Tournaments. The MSHSL Board of Directors approved the plans on a meeting that took place on February 4, 2021.

Fall sports were not able to have state tournaments due to the uncertainty of COVID-19 and the amount of confirmed positive cases in the state. Now, the MSHSL has these tentative schedules for sports and activities that are subject to change.

One Act Play state competitions will take place February 11-13 in a virtual format. Judging will take place on Feb 11-12, with awards given on Feb 13.

State Alpine Skiing competition will be on March 10 for Boys & Girls. There will be 88 skiers in each gender with one day, one session competition. They will have pods of 22 skiers in waves, with 2 race events per skier.

Nordic Skiing will follow a similar structure on March 12. There will be 88 skiers in each boys and girls races. There will be two sessions on the day with one gender in the morning and one gender in the afternoon.

Also happening on March 12-13 is the Dance and Jazz competitions. It's a single day for each category with Jazz on Friday and Kick on Saturday. It's a single dance per day with no prelims or finals. Each day will start with Class AAA.

Boys swimming and diving will take place from March18-20. Diving will happen on March 18, swimming finals will take place March 19-20. The swimming will be timed finals with no prelims. There will be a maximum of 4 sections at any one time.

Wrestling happens on March 25-27 with each class having their own day. The team tournament will include semis and finals with 4 teams. The individual tournament will feature eight qualifiers in each weight class. Further plans on this tournament are under review.

Girls Gymnastics will take place March 26-7 with two sessions of four teams each day. There are more details on the MSHL page on how gymnastics will work.

Girls Hockey will hold the quarterfinals March 26--27. April 1 will be the semifinals, and the championship will be on April 3. There will be no consolation or third prize games.

Boys Hockey will start with quarterfinals on March 30-31. April 2nd will be the semifinals and the championship will be on April 3. Once again there will be no consolation or third prize games.

Boys Basketball starts with quarterfinals on March 30-31. Semifinals take place April 6-8, and the championships on April 9-10. Girls Basketball follows the same dates and format. There will be no third place or consolation games.

Adapted Floor Hockey is only in a practice and training season this year.
