The Frozen Four tournament has been set, and Duluth's UMD Bulldogs made their way to the tournament after a thrilling 5 overtime victory over the University of North Dakota. Now the Bulldogs will compete for another national championship title. Their next game is against the University of Massachusetts on Thursday, April 8, 2021.

The Bulldogs were able to automatically advance past the first round after Michigan had to forfeit because of COVID-19 protocols. It still wasn't easy as a nail biting game went into 5 overtimes before the Bulldogs could finally win it 4-3 last Saturday. Their opponent University of Massachusetts played Lake Superior State in the first round, beating them 5-1. Then they shut out Bemidji 4-0 to advance to face the Bulldogs.

The semi-final game will take place Thursday April 8 at 8pm, and we will broadcast all the games in the tournament on the Northland FAN 560 AM & 106.5FM. You can also listen to the games on our mobile app or stream online.

The first game of the day will be at 4pm in the other half of the semi-finals. Minnesota State will play St. Cloud State. Our broadcast coverage will begin at 3:45pm, with the Bulldog hockey game to follow.

The tournament will take place at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania which is home to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Our coverage will be with Westwood One broadcasters Brian Tripp and Dave Starman.

UMD is looking to defend their title. Last year the tournament was cancelled due to COVID-19. The Bulldogs won in 2019, 2018, and 2011 all under coach Scott Sandelin.

No matter the outcome, we'll continue to carry the final game of the tournament with the winners from Thursday night. The championship game is set for Saturday April 10. Coverage begins on the Northland FAN at 5:45pm.
