How Much Snow Will Duluth & Superior Get In November?

The spookiest season of the year is almost over and that means November is right around the corner. It is time to put away our Halloween decorations (or leave them up year round like I do) and get ready for Thanksgiving and cooler temperatures.

We have had a pretty chilly October at times, with periods of light snow accumulation as well. We got our first taste of winter in mid-October but thankfully, it wasn't enough to stick around, with a light dusting of snow in the Twin Ports.

Temperatures have been a bit of a roller coaster this month for the Twin Ports as well, with mild temperatures mixing with periods of cold temperatures. We have had a few really nice days after our first dusting of snow, which was nice as well.

Sadly, we are closer to winter now that we are entering the month of November and according to the Old Farmer's Almanac, it is going to be a snowy one. Their outlook for our region is out now and you may want to take a deep breath!

During the first five days of the month, rain will turn to snow as we head into the new month. From then on, it looks to be "cold" and "very cold" throughout the rest of the month. The only exception is a few days near the start of the month where things will be mild.

It looks like snow will also dominate in November, with periods of snow from the start of the month through the end of the month without a break. Snow will vary from flurries to heavy snow at times so start preparing yourself now.

It looks like, in terms of temperature, it will be about five degrees cooler than average for this time of the year. It also looks like we will see above-average precipitation for this time of the year, which makes sense considering how snowy it is supposed to be. Sigh.

The National Weather Service recently released their 2022 to 2023 winter forecast and they are forecasting an active storm season for our neck of the woods, which means more winter storms than usual and in turn, more snow.

As far as temperatures go for our region, it looks like there is a pretty good chance temperatures will fall below average. This is saying a lot considering how cold we are anyway. The good news is once it is cold, it is cold and a few degrees doesn't really make a difference.
