This is such a cool story! A little wooden toy boat was found on the shore of Lake Superior near the Apostle Islands in Wisconsin. The boat had a message on the bottom of the boat.

The photos were posted on Facebook and shared by the Duluth School District, hoping to find whoever was a part of this project. It didn't take long before they found some of the people who launched the boat years ago.

Bonnie Fritch reached out the School District and explained that she and another teacher, Brenda Schell had a lesson plan in their Lakewood school classrooms that involved the toy boat. They did a "Paddle To The Sea" unit where they mapped out the travels and waterways it would take to canoe to the ocean.

A friend made a boat for each of the classes. At the end of the year field trip to Brighton Beach, they launched the boats into the water. This was back in 1993 or 1994. A year later Brenda's boat was found up the North Shore where some nice people put another coat of varnish on it and sent it on it's way again. It sailed for another 25 years. This boat looks like it's in pretty good shape for all of it's travels.
