The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Department announced there are two upcoming virtual public meetings scheduled to allow public input for the proposed Enger Golf Course renovations.

The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 18 at 5:00 p.m. and the second is Tuesday, June 1 at noon. Duluth Parks and Recreation is co-hosting the meeting with professional consultants from Norby Golf Design Inc., Architectural Resources Inc., and Antares Golf, LLC.  During the meetings, basic renovation scenarios will be presented in addition to answering questions and taking public comments.

According to Duluth Parks and Recreation, Enger Golf Course renovation items include:

  • A new irrigation system
  • New clubhouse
  • Improvements to fairways and bunker renovations.

The aforementioned work is expected to begin in 2023. Enger Golf Course will be closed at that time and Lester Park Golf Course will reopen for one final season of golf. Enger will then reopen their renovated course and new clubhouse for play in 2024. What will ultimately happen with the land that is now the Lester Park Golf Course has not yet been decided.

You can hit the button below to access the City of Duluth Event Calendar, which lists each Enger Golf Course Public Renovations Meeting along with instructions on how to access the virtual meetings.

The total cost of the renovations is targeted at $4 million, which is expected to come from these potential sources: $2-3 million in revenue bonding, proceeds from sale of small golf parcels for residential development, potential private investment by a course management firm, and potential community contributions.
