It's that time of the year in the Northland when the fall colors are popping, daylight is fading significantly earlier and the Bayfield Apple Festival is once again welcoming people from far and wide.

This year marks the 60th Apple Festival Anniversary, so it should be an especially festive and fun three days for all. Of course, just how much fun can often be dictated by the weather.

It's certainly no fun to get rained on during a primarily outdoor event and freezing your keister off is not much better. So, we're at that time of week where we start paying attention to the weekend forecast in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Will festival attendees need rain jackets, parkas, or sunscreen?

You'll be happy to know that it appears a nearly perfect fall weather weekend will greet everyone at the Bayfield Apple Festival. WDIO-TV Chief Meteorologist Justin Liles shared the good news late Tuesday on his Facebook page.

Friday seems a bit chilly, with a high of just 47 degrees. But the sun should be shining in the afternoon and those are the perfect conditions to show off your fall flannels and fleece and even a cozy winter hat for the evening hours.

Then the rest of the weekend should warm up well into the 50's, with plenty of sunshine on both Saturday and Sunday. Again, a perfect opportunity to show off that lighter fall wear, just remember to bring a warmer jacket for those chilly evenings strolling through Bayfield.

Ultimately, as it looks right now, Mother Nature will take good care of Bayfield this weekend.

Of course, the next thing to figure out is how to maximize your time at the Bayfield Apple Festival when there are so many activities to take advantage of, food to eat, and tasty beverages to drink. The handy guide below can help you plan your weekend.

There won't just be apple-related fun in Bayfield this weekend as the Spectrum Carnival will be back! It opens Thursday and it will be running throughout the weekend.

LOOK: Here are the best lake towns to live in

Many of the included towns jump out at the casual observer as popular summer-rental spots--the Ozarks' Branson, Missouri, or Arizona's Lake Havasu--it might surprise you to dive deeper into some quality-of-life offerings beyond the beach and vacation homes. You'll likely pick up some knowledge from a wide range of Americana: one of the last remaining 1950s-style drive-ins in the Midwest; a Florida town that started as a Civil War veteran retirement area; an island boasting some of the country's top public schools and wealth-earners right in the middle of a lake between Seattle and Bellevue; and even a California town containing much more than Johnny Cash's prison blues.
