The Minnesota National Guard announced that there will be a statewide flyover to honor essential workers on Wednesday, May 6th. Duluth's 148th Fighter Wing will participate along with Saint Paul's 133rd Airflift Wing. It's being called 'Operation American Resolve.' The flight path will take them over healthcare and veteran's facilities on May 6th. The Bulldog's Fighter wing will depart the Duluth airbase and make their way to Brainerd, Little Falls, Saint Cloud, Monticello, Coon Rapids, Maple Grove, Robbinsdale, Minneapolis, Saint Paul, Hastings, and Rochester.

There also will be a flight path of their flyovers for metro locations:

It is mentioned that this flyover is being incorporated into an already scheduled training mission. The 148th has been busy lately, and we previously reported that they were doing night training exercises last week. If you live in the Duluth area, you have grown accustomed to the loud roaring of the squadron of F-16 fighting falcons.

Duluth has a long history with the fighter wing. It was originally established in Duluth during the cold war in 1948, as a fighter squadron. Then years later it was designated a fighter group, expanding it's mission.

Also participating in the flyover on May 6th is the St. Paul based 133rd airlift wing. They originated back in 1921 and have had several roles since. Currently they are a cargo airlift wing which operates 8 C-130 Hercules. You probably have seen them making routine trips to the Duluth 148th.

Remember to keep an eye on the sky on Wednesday May 6th Mid day. If you venture out to see the flyover, keep social distancing recommendations in mind, and help salute our essential workers.
