EDMONTON, Alberta -- AP -- The NHL is rapidly approaching the finish line of the season and awarding the Stanley Cup after holding an expanded playoff in quarantined bubbles. Don't expect bubbles to be an option for the 2020-21 season.

Players' Association executive director Don Fehr said exactly replicating the playoff quarantine environment is not something players are interested in doing for an entire season. Players and the NHL will meet soon to consider many other options like other leagues have done. Dec. 1 is the earliest possible start date. But Fehr says much like the return to play, no decisions will be rushed.
