The City of Cloquet announced their Earth Day 2021 Cleanup event and they're looking for community members to volunteer to help. The first 100 people to register will get a free t-shirt.

The Earth Day 2021 Cleanup event in Cloquet will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 24 at the Dunlap Island Park’s Warming House/Shelter. Participants are asked to arrive between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. for pre-registration, which is required for this event.

Earth Day was first established in 1970, when 20 million Americans joined forces to be proactive and protect the planet.  According to EarthDay.org, that number has since grown to 1 billion, with the stated mission to:

Diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide. Growing out of the first Earth Day in 1970, EARTHDAY.ORG is the world’s largest recruiter to the environmental movement, working with more than 75,000 partners in over 190 countries to drive positive action for our planet.

While Earth Day events are a great way to get communities together for a common good, there are things you can do throughout the year that also help. Click here to take a look at 51 actions you can take to make a difference every day of the year.
