Over 1300 Minnesotans have died from COVID-19 and now those victims will be remembered monthly during the remained of 2020.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced today that all flags located at state and federal building throughout the state will be flown and half-staff every 19th of the month through 2020 starting tomorrow, June 19th.

“Thousands of Minnesotans have lost dear friends and close family members in the fight against COVID-19,” said Governor Walz in a press release. “Each life taken has been a heartbreaking tragedy for our state. In these challenging times, we must work together to slow the spread of this pandemic.”

Others throughout the state including businesses, organizations, and individuals are also encouraged to the same.

Several other states are or already have ordered flags to fly at half-staff and the Federal Government did the same back in May.
