High School All Star Hockey Game to Feature the Northland’s Best
The Essentia Health High School All Star Hockey Game will feature the top 34 high school hockey players from around the region, all set to compete at the Essentia Duluth Heritage Sports Center on Tuesday, April 6.
The Essentia Health High School All Star Hockey Game officially begins at 7:15 p.m., but you'll want to arrive early to check out the skills competition.
Due to COVID-19, organizers are limiting tickets to 4 per player in order to meet the guidance set forth by the MN Department of Health. However any remaining tickets not not sold by family members will go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 19th. No tickets will be available at the door, click here to purchase available tickets online.
The 2021 game will again feature teams put together through a fantasy selection process, rather than the Duluth versus Iron Range format that had been used in the past. Organizers say the fantasy team selection model "creates a more competitive balance of players and provides the athletes with the opportunity to play alongside their former competitors and to play against long time teammates."
The process began with high school hockey coaches from throughout the Iron Range and Duluth-area voting for their player representatives. Once the 34 players were chosen, they all went into a general player pool. Finally, coaches from Team White and Team Yellow conducted a draft from that pool of players to fill out their rosters.
The Essentia Health High School All Star Hockey Game is a great way to end the season and showcase some of the terrific high school talent we have in the Northland.
