Fiery Crash Closes Part of Southeast Minnesota Highway, 2 Hurt

Lake City, MN (KROC-AM News)- A fiery crash at a southeast Minnesota intersection closed part of a highway and sent two people to the hospital Friday afternoon.

The State Patrol responded to the crash shortly after 3 p.m. Two vehicles were involved in the collision. Neither of the vehicles were carrying passengers.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 63/Wabasha County Rd. 33/16, which is about 10 miles southwest of Lake City.

A pick-up traveling north on Hwy. 63 and a minivan that was heading east on County Rd. 16/33 collided in the intersection of the two roads, the state crash report says.

80-year-old Lawrence Anthony Reuter of Winona was driving the minivan. The pick-up driver is identified as 46-year-old Michael Leon Hall of St. Charles, IA.

Both men were taken from the crash scene to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Wabasha County Sheriff's Office indicates one of the vehicles at the crash scene had started on fire. Hwy. 63 was temporarily closed Friday afternoon while crews cleared the scene.

The drivers were buckled up and alcohol was not involved in the crash, according to the accident report.

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, Lake City Ambulance and Lake City Fire Department also responded to the scene of the two-vehicle collision.
