Update: Marcus Duluth Cinema has temporarily shut down operations. Refunds for tickets purchased for future dates will be offered within 14 business days. A reopening date has not been given at this time.

Marcus Cinema in Duluth has announced a new seating policy amid concerns of COVID-19 coronavirus.

The movie theater shared details about the temporary policy on their Facebook page Monday (March 16th), writing the following:

Starting today, new social distancing seating arrangements will be in place at our theatres. All auditoriums will be limited to approximately 50% of normal auditorium capacity. Additional space will also be added between each pair of seats* to provide a more comfortable social distance.

The theater added that "a limited number of sections with four seats together will be available in many auditoriums to accommodate families" and extra space may be added based on local directives if needed.

As mentioned, the temporary seating policy goes into effect immediately. Marcus Duluth Cinema is located at 300 Harbor Drive in Duluth.

This news doesn't come as a huge shock. Many restaurants, coffee shops and businesses alike are taking temporary measures to continue to serve the public while make sure extra precautions are taken amid COVID-19 coronavirus.
