Minnesota Wild Trade Jason Zucker To The Pittsburgh Penguins
The Minnesota Wild have traded forward Jason Zucker to the Pittsburgh Penguins for two players and a conditional draft pick in the 2020 NHL Draft.
The news was announced on Twitter Monday evening by TSN reporter Bob McKenzie. The deal, which sends 28 year-old Zucker to the Penguins, lands Minnesota forward Alex Galchenyuk, defensive prospect Calen Addison, and a conditional 2020 first-round draft pick.
Galchenyuk is a 25 year-old center from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who has posted 5 goals and 12 assists in the first 45 games so far this season. He spent the first 6 years of his NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens, who drafted him third overall in the 2012 NHL Draft. He was traded to Arizona prior to the 2018-2019 season, and was traded by the Coyotes to the Penguins for the 2019-2020 season. Galchenyuk becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
Calen Addison is a 19 year-old defenseman originally from Brandon, Manitoba. He was a second-round (53rd overall) pick by the Penguins at the 2018 NHL Draft, and has been playing with the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes where he has 41 goals and 206 points in 241 games.
TSN explains that the conditional 2020 first round draft pick could become a 2021 first round pick if the Penguins miss the playoffs and decide to push it back a year.
