Minnesota's North Shore is at its most beautiful in autumn when the leaves change. There's a brief window of beautiful, bright trees every season which brings tourists and locals to the North Shore of Lake Superior. This last summer has already been challenging commuting through the North Shore because of planned road construction. An emergency road repair in a section now will cause some detours and disruptions to traffic.

There's been work on replacing bridges North of Two Harbors near Betty's Pies. It's a huge project, and it has led to intermittent lane closures and traffic stops. That project according to MNDOT will continue through next summer as well. This has caused delays on busy days for travel with flaggers controlling traffic one lane at a time.

Starting Tuesday, October 11, a portion of North Shore Scenic Drive will close for 5 weeks for emergency repairs. According to WDIO, erosion has caused the roadway to slope towards the lake near the French River Wayside Rest area.

The weather looks decent too for this weekend. A cold front is sweeping into the region, but temperatures look to recover by the weekend to get back into the 50s.

Once again, YouTube Vibe With Mike is the go-to for videos if you want a preview of what the ride will look like. Here's a drive up the North Shore Scenic Drive from last October.
