This sure would be handy for Northlanders if it were true, right? The World Health Organization is clearing up some rumors about COVID-19 and I felt like this one applied to us in the bold north.

There have been rumors swirling about COVID-19 since it first started to really emerge here in the United States. One of those rumors is that cold weather and snowfall can actually kill COVID-19 coronavirus. However, this is just that: a rumor.

The World Health Organization has been busting myths like this on their website. Of this particular rumor, they say "there is no reason to believe that cold weather can kill the new coronavirus or other diseases." This, according to their statement, is attributed to the fact that our body temperature pretty much stays the same regardless of the temperature outside or the fact that it is snowing.

In case you're curious, the same can be said for hot weather. The World Health Organization says being outside in the sun on a warm day doesn't protect you against COVID-19, as some people suspected.

As you've heard a million times this year, the World Health Organization suggests wearing a mask and washing your hands with soap and water to protect yourself from COVID-19.
