Superior Mayor Jim Paine updated the public today on the status of reopening certain things in the city and 4th of July Fireworks.

The Mayor said in a Facebook post that the city is working with Douglas County to make sure all businesses are following the 'Reopen Guidelines' that were issued by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, you can find those here.

Also, all parks, playgrounds, the dog park, and skate park are open immediately. Boat launches, life jacket stations, and bathrooms will be open by this weekend at some point.

No permits for park gatherings or events will be issued for the month of June, he does say that the city will revisit this for July and August, so stay tuned for more on that in the coming weeks.

As far as the 4th of July goes, Paine says that the city is still planning on doing the parade, car show, and most importantly the fireworks. The fireworks will be moved back to the fairgrounds and the parade and car show will have certain safety modifications.

Paine said, "We have to work together to permanently end this crisis. Our last, best weapon is the good judgement and responsibility of community leaders, business owners, and citizens."
