UMD, Other Schools To See Reduced Athletics Schedule As NCAA Reduces D-II Schedule Requirements
Schools that compete in NCAA Division II athletics will see a reduced number of games during the 2020-2021 season, following a decision to reduce the number of minimum and maximum contests required for the upcoming season.
The new requirements, which went into effect on May 19, will only be in effect for the upcoming season. They will return to normal for the 2021-2022 season. The decision was made to reduce schedule requirements by the NCAA’s Division II President’s Council as part of their response to COVID-19 as schools deal with the economic fallout related to the pandemic.
