When's the last time you went to a movie? For many people it has been since before the pandemic began. Movie theatres closed down early on as we did our part to socially distance from others to flatten the curve. This summer they began opening up again with special protocols in place to keep us safe. Still, many people have not felt comfortable going to the movies. Now, Marcus Theatres is giving guests the option to hold a private screening for up to 20 guests.

They are calling it Marcus Private Cinema. They say it's a great option for birthday parties or other small social gatherings. You can rent out a theatre auditorium for $175, and have up to 20 guests attend the screening. They will space you out so there is plenty of room between guests. Of course you'll also be able to purchase soda and snacks too.

To take advantage of this, all you need to do is contact the regional account manager. You can request more information online at their website. They need advanced notice of 2-10 days which varies due to the location and film you want to see.

Locally the Marcus Lakes Cinema in Hermantown is still closed. The Duluth Cinema on Harbor Drive is open Fridays, Sundays, and Tuesdays. They have been showing a variety of movies including new movies, classic blockbuster films, and recently some Halloween favorites.
