Grandma’s Marathon and their Young Athletes Foundation announced the start of the 'YAF Winter Challenge.'

The program is free and will serve as a replacement for the 'Saturday Morning at the Races' events which have been cancelled for 2021. The 'YAF Winter Challenge' aims to help keep kids active during the pandemic.

The Young Athletes Foundation has teamed up with Minnesota Duluth (UMD), St. Scholastica, and UW-Superior for the challenge in which each school will be featured for two-weeks between mid-January and late-February, each with a unique mix of challenges for the kids.

“One of the great things about this program is it’s entirely tailored to the individual,” Program Director Alivia Nelson said in a press release. “These activities are meant to be accessible to everyone, but they can easily be modified and have no minimum time, distance, or quantity attached. Quite simply, we just want to encourage kids to move their bodies and be active, in reality, whatever way they think is best for them.”
