Zeitgeist Restaurant & Bar temporarily closed down last September with a promise to re-open when it became feasible and to be bigger and better than ever. It seems like the time has come as they announced via their Facebook Page that they will be reopening their doors on November 19. They had been open for the last ten years before the pandemic.

Some pop-up restaurants had been in place at the sight of Zeitgeist during the height of the pandemic, but now will be open as a full-service dining establishment again. Zeitgeist Arts Cafe is a part of Zeitgeist - a nonprofit arts and community development that also includes the Zeitgeist Zinema 2 movie theater, two community art galleries, and the Zeitgeist Teatro Zuccone performance theater and event space, which is home to the Renegade Theater Company. They are located at 222 East Superior Street in Duluth.

With its reopening, some changes have taken place including a "No Tipping" policy.. According to their Facebook page, it will be implemented as follows:

Instead of a traditional tipping model, Zeitgeist will be implementing a 20% universal hospitality charge, providing an elevated and fair living wage for all team members, a professionalized pay scale and a sustainable business model.

The restaurant will also open under the new leadership of General Manager/Executive Chef Nick Weinhandl and Front of House Manager Kyle Salveson. A place like Zeitgeist is so important to the community not only as a local business but also as a place for the arts which is so strong in Duluth. Thankfully the art scene is slowly but surely able to start making a comeback. Management has suggested that you call ahead for reservations by calling 218-722-9100, For more information on hours and menu items please go to  zeitgeistarts.com/restaurant/.
