Report: Vikings Talking with Free Agent WR Dede Westbrook
The Minnesota Vikings have two amazing talents at the wide receiver position, but the team could use a standout third receiver, and it looks like the team is exploring options.
With Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson holding down the one and two spots on the roster, the team is busy trying to find someone else to fill the void in the third position and a report today hints that the team is talking to free agent Dede Westbrook.
Josina Anderson is reporting that the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Minnesota Vikings have all shown interest in the former Jacksonville WR. Westbrook was selected in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
In his career Westbrook has hauled in 159 receptions for 1,716 yards and nine touchdowns. During the 2020 season Westbrook tore his ACL in week seven against the Patriots and teams will want to see that the receiver has recovered from that injury before even considering signing him.
Westbrook entered last season as the fourth wide receiver for the Jaguars and could be a great fit to compete somewhere for a third wide receiver position. Westbrook played college football for Oklahoma and won the 2016 Fred Biletnikoff Award, a yearly award given to an outstanding receiver in American college football by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc.
