The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference is still pursuing a fall athletics competition. They provided an update on Thursday afternoon (7/16) that they wil be revising their scheduling formats and re-socialization protocols. This comes after their bi weekly scheduled meetings for COVID-19 contingency planning.

The UMAC Athletics Directors Council made the recommendations which was also supported by the Council of Presidents and Chancellors on Wednesday. They are taking steps and modifications to keep student-athletes, coaches, staff, and campus communities safe during the pandemic. In their decision making process they also needed to take into consideration revised NCAA Division III sports sponsorship and eligibility requirements.

UMAC Soccer and Volleyball with stick with the originally scheduled eight conference games and then go to a modified six conference tournaments. Soccer teams can play two additional regular season contests against UMAC members or member outside of the conference if they have been also following similar re-socialization protocols. Volleyball can play three more opponents under the same conditions. Golf teams will be limited to UMAC teams only for the regular season, and the conference championships will remain the same as originally planned.

The UMAC Council of Athletic Directors are continuing to discuss protocols for in-season practice and competition with safety measure that would keep everyone safe, including athletes, coaches, and spectators.
